Flashcards
Since Huang Bao Bao was 1month old Huang Pa Pa has been showing him black and white flashcards patterns. It is interactive as Bao Bao will smile back when shown a certain pattern he likes.

S$200 worth of Flashcards purchased by doting Huang Pa Pa.

"Shhhh stop disturbing me!" Huang Bao Bao carrying out the flashcard activity himself.

Flashcards is one good way of right brain training. The cards should be flashed to the child as fast as possible (if you can keep it at around 1 second per card, that will be great!). Read aloud the content of the card to the child as the card is being flashed to him.

Some tips when starting your child with flashcards:

1. For baby less then 3months old, start off with black and white patterns. Then graduate to pictures of daily objects in the house. Bright pictures will capture the attention of your child as compared to words.

2. Make the session interesting by incorporating noise. E.g. making cow "Mooing" when showing him a pic of a cow.

3. Choose the correct timing to show the cards to your child. Do not do it just before nap time when he is cranky.

4. Make it a routine everyday. You won't need very long, probably 10-15 minutes a day, for a long term benefit!

5. Start early!

Here is the site where you can download free flashcards and patterns. I love the 'black & white' patterns especially.
